Ask Sam
  • This is a championship formed with the aim of encouraging race participation...
  • It isn't compulsory and is purely for fun and enjoyment...
  • If you're eligible but would rather not participate in the BodyFit Race Championship - that's absolutely fine, just let me know and I'll remove you from the list. You can still enjoy your classes and run with your friends without ever entering a single race. Just keep on running!

runners BodyFit Race Championship: Rules of Competition

  1. Anyone aged 17 over who attends on average two or more classes each month throughout 2010 is automatically eligible.
  2. The BodyFit Championship will be selected from local (Cumbrian) races covering a range of both distance and terrain.
  3. The fastest BodyFit competitor will receive 100 points, the second 99, the third 98 and so on. In exceptional circumstances (i.e. more than 100 competitors eligible for league points in a race) the qualifying points for all championship races in that season will be adjusted upward to cope.
  4. Any 5 races from the total championship will count. If a competitor completes more than 5 races, the best 5 will count.
  5. Based on the points scored over the league season, prizes will be awarded for the following categories:
    Divisions
    Pro Division First Man
    Pro Division First Woman
    Elite Division Winner
    Premier Division Winner
    First Division Winner
    All Stars Division Winner
    Men Overall
    1st V40: 40-49
    1st V50: 50-59
    1st V60: 60+
    Women Overall
    1st V40: 40-49
    1st V50: 50-59
    1st V60: 60+
  6. The overall winner is the competitor with the most points irrespective of age category
  7. A competitor's age category will be determined at the first championship race attended and will remain the same throughout the season
  8. If two competitor's points are equal at the end of the season the higher placing will be determined by the competitor who has beaten the other the most times. Where this cannot be determined, the competitor who has completed the most races will be placed higher.
  9. The divisions will be determined at the beginning of each season based on previous race form. If a competitor hasn't raced before and therefore has no 'form', they will be allocated a division based on the result of their first BodyFit Championship Race.
  10. Only one prize will be awarded per person and if I (Sam Ayers) happen to be in a prize winning position that prize will go to the next qualifying person.
